I’ve been able to restrain myself until this moment from writing about the O. J. Simpson matter, but now, with the return of the liable verdict against The Juice from The Jury — the time is ripe for picking a response. For over 2.7 years, the Goldmans and the Browns have suffered the loss of their beloved children while a dismayed nation looked upon their plight with pity and terror. While many of you are familiar with much of the case, allow me a moment to address some of the hotter issues as I see them.

Money Over All
The $8.5 million compensatory damages awarded to the Goldmans for Ron’s death cannot begin to settle the tsouris that their lives have become since the murder, but in the United States, money walks and money talks and money is the lowest common denominator that Simpson can understand and feel. Simpson used the almighty dollar to break his roots with the Black community and become a false idol in a community he did not understand nor temper and how fitting it is that he must now pay the very substance he cherishes more than life itself?

The Bloody & The Beautiful
Simpson’s blood was found at Bundy, in his car and in his home the day after the murder. Ron and Nicole’s blood was found in the Bronco. Since there’s no such thing as a coincidence, the fact that Ron Goldman’s blood and DNA were found inside Simpson’s locked Bronco speaks to the meat of the matter in fact. Don’t forget that large washes of blood were seen all over the Bronco dashboard under a special ultra-violet light the FBI uses to detect blood residue left behind when blood is attempted to be “wiped away”. That evidence was disallowed in the criminal trial by Judge Ito because the Prosecution didn’t turn over those results in a timely manner (along with the carpet fiber dye evidence) to the Defense.

If The Shoe Fits…
I understand why Simpson denied all 30 photos of him wearing the “murder shoes” produced during the civil trial were fake: to agree they were real and was to self-incriminate himself as the killer since FBI Agent Bodziak had aced Dr. Henry Lee and discovered the same sort of shoes in the size Simpson wears and had owned had left bloody shoe prints at Bundy. The fact that Simpson said under deposition that he’d never wear “those ugly ass shoes” was the kind of egomaniacal statement that doomed him time and time again in front of the civil jury. How dare he claim he’d never hit Nicole!

Kato Knows
Kato Kaelin certainly knows more about the physical abuse between Nicole and Simpson than he’s saying. He still may be afraid, but honor holds no line for cowards.

Words to Die For
Nicole tried to leave a bloody and bruised record of what Simpson had done to her. Unfortunately, she only made notes and stored them, along with photographs she took of herself, in a safe deposit box. If she’d only made an official, private record with an attorney or some other professional agency, her words would’ve erupted from the grave during the criminal trial and her bony, rotting finger could’ve fingered her ex-husband as her killer in the courtroom.

Heidstra Heard
Robert Heidstra was walking his dogs the night of the killing and he heard shouts in front of Nicole’s condo. What Heidstra heard was Ron Goldman shouting “Hey!, Hey!” and Simpson yelling back at him. Robert Heidstra was a star ear-witness to the murders of the Millennium.

Fuhrman Factor
Mark Fuhrman was never a factor in any sort of framing of Simpson. He was a convenient scapegoat for Racists as were Tom Lange and Phil Vanatter.

Black & White
The only reason the Simpson murder matter is drawn in Black and White is because Robert Shapiro and Johnnie Cochran, Jr. successfully made skin color the overlying issue centering the case. The “Dream Team” then exploited the tension inherent in such a reprehensible scheme and rode the ashes to victory.

Societal Endgame?
Where do we go from here? We keep on living with each other. The Simpson Matter has no bearing upon the reality of Race Relations. The Simpson Matter is not a Revelation of Humankind or even of a real life Othello played out in the Hell of real life. The Simpson Matter is an anathema — a freakshow… something to be pitied and forgotten than obsessed upon and celebrated over — and the sooner it is dismissed as such, the better off we’ll all be as we carry on with our small lives together.
