In the August 1, 2005 issue of Newsweek, the rise of Porn Podcasting is investigated:

Aug. 1 issue – Podcasting, that baby medium, is suddenly home to a lot of adult content. Introduced to a mainstream audience just last month, the technology — radiolike programming for your iPod — that was once the chaste province of “Geek News Central” and “Knitcast” is now reddening faces that sport those trademark white earbuds. “No matter what the technology is,” says Andrew Leyden, founder of podcastdirectory.com, “sex finds a way to get involved.”

That article made me reflect on the nature of innovating and making
money on the web.
The old chestnut about the birth of the internet argues only the
pornography pioneers made money on the web by selling protected access
to pretty pictures for oogling by men.
Do women seek out porn on the web in the same numbers as men?

A lot of men, it seems, will pay a lot of money to experience a virtual
reality over a hardcopy fantasy.
Many men prefer false titilation over an in-the-flesh relationship and
I find that strange and a little sad.
Is Porn a great trailblazer for technology?
Or does Porn only feed a static sexual desire while a real, human,
passion for all kinds of intellectual stimulation presses forward our
shared interactive imagination?
