Obama hasn’t been president a week yet and he’s already horse on the street:

Add heroin to the scores of products that have been branded with President Barack Obama’s name. Cops in upstate New York this week broke up a drug ring that allegedly sold heroin under several brand names, including “Obama.”

We can’t decide if “Obama” heroin is an honor or an insult.

Are the dealers trying to play off the goodness of the man in their street branding?

Or are they seeking to equalize the first Black president by pulling him back into the street where they think he belongs?

What are the memes at play?

  1. I think it’s more simply just a popularity thing – people just have the name on their lips (some literally, I imagine – lip tattoos?) and so they are just striking while the iron is hot

That’s an interesting take, Gordon. So you see the Obama Horse as more compliment to his popularity than an attempt to drag him down?
