One year ago today, we published the first BolesBlues.com article called, rightly enough — “What is BolesBlues.com?” — and that article was quickly followed by, “From Old Cooter to Boles Blues” to help explain the provenance of who we are and what we hoped to become in time.
Over the last year, we have written album reviews, guitar reviews, strings reviews, amp reviews, and we commented on the likes of Eric Clapton and B.B. King and failed Blues songstress Cyndi Lauper.
One of our reviews was even featured on iTunes in the Apple App Store!
We also survived the whole cloth theft of our — “Tom Jones and the Burning Gospel Blues” — article and won the day by demanding our Copyright be respected in the ongoing, and never-ending, enforcement of our protected word.
We have published over 150 Boles Blues articles — that averages out to around three new articles per week — not bad at all for a new blog in a 13-blog strong network.
Our Boles Blues comments number over 900 — that averages out to around 20 new comments a week — and that is really grand, especially since we don’t publish every comment in an effort to only give you the best, most insightful, music commentary on the internets.
We thank you for your readership and support.
A massive boost to our early blog popularity happened on July 11, 2010 when we published the article — “American Folklore and the Blues Black Cat Bone” — and that post was picked up by WordPress.com’s fantastic Freshly Pressed service. Having Boles Blues featured on Freshly Pressed gave us an instantaneous and massive boost in readership that still harmonizes within you, and vibrates throughout us, to this day and forevermore.
As we move forward into Year Two, we will continue to give you the best possible music and gear coverage, and if you have any ideas to help add to our ongoing success, we invite you to use the Contact link found at the top of this page. Let us know what you like, what you want to read, and we’re always open to article suggestions and topics for review.
We delightedly extinguish our waning Year One flame in favor of our waxing Second Anniversary and, over the journey of the next 365 days, we promise to continue to do our utter best to bring the Blues home to you.
Happy birthday, Boles Blues! You’ve let me review some pretty awesome music and equipment! 🙂
Yay, us, Gordon! It’s been a grand year for the network, and Boles Blues, and we wouldn’t be where we are — and so wholly successful — without your daily devotion.
THANK YOU, dear friend!
Hey Happy Birthday! I read all the time but don’t often comment – Thanks!
