by Last night, we had the most amazing nearly full moon, with the exact time of the full moon in the early hours of this morning when all sensible people are asleep — the light was excellent so I took the opportunity to snap away at our last full moon from this house.
Sometime over the next week we will be moving — definitely maybe!
Our outdoors shed frame is up — the floor is going down for the secure lock up and the wood walls are already taking place. Lots of concrete is being laid down tomorrow by the boys, while I pack up boxes. “M” has been a star.
We went to the Algarve yesterday and sourced a new bed, and matching bedroom furniture and a major treat for ourselves — an above ground swimming pool — courtesy of a tax rebate from last year. The bedroom furniture arrives on Tuesday — the pool will take a week or two.
We have also bought the tiles for the brick shed and the roofing for the side of the house where we will have out outside dining room.
New flooring tiles are on order for the Alentejo shed which will be broken down and resurrected on site.
The brick shed is going to be a laundry room and garden kitchen, leaving my shed to be for creative pursuits. The brick shed has been repainted internally by the landlord.
We have to wait for landline phone and internet — they have to renew the lines and the poles — this might be a small fly in the ointment.
The bonus is that tonight we were offered about half an acre of land behind the house for use as an orchard and herb garden.
The next full moon will have a different perspective.

How are the cats handling the move? Do they sense something is up? Is there any worry that once you land in the new house some of the cats might try to run back to the previous place?
I hope the phone and internet don’t get glitchy. Those things can take some time to solve.
Te cats know somthing is up – we will be dealing with them family by family. ie each queen and her kittens will have their own safe spot and will only be “allowed out hungry” for the first couple of days. Cats will always wander – we are hoping they stay where the food is ……………. if they wander back here then we will find them during the last of the clearing up and moving process.
We have a USB pen that allows us internet access – and I have a gizmo from a friend that allows that to work as a router – it worled well for the handfasting – so hopefully it ill do the same for us there.
It takes a lot of planning to make such a big move. I’m thrilled for you that you will have so much more space. Are all the new rooms already teaken and dedicated to tasks? SMILE!
Rooms all planned ……………….. we did contemplate an alternative arrangement , but decided to stick with our original thoughts..
I shall have a kitchen, larder – real luxury that – bathroom with a bath – another luxury – guest bedroom , large office – which was the second bedroom – our bedroom with an ensuite shower room, halls connecting everything – and a large lounge/day room which has double french doors opening out onto a tiled deck. We have a larger space we are going to cover outside the kitchen which will be our outdoor eating area. We have the brick shed which will be the outdoor kitchen and laundry space and take the freezers and last but not least the Alentejo shed which will be rebuilt for all its treasures.
Oh, I love the plan! It’s sophisticated and simple! You’ll never want to leave! SMILE!
well we spoke about this as our half way house in the firt instance – now we have the orchard and the pool it might become THE house – it is starting to feel like it already.
Is there an option to buy?
The pool will be heavenly. Will you be able to use it year-round?

The pool will be a delight – it will be useable most of the year – we are currently looking at a solar heating system for it which would make it 100% useable all year.

I love that picture! Whenever I try to take a picture of the moon, no matter how beautiful and triumphant it looks in real life, the photo doesn’t do it justice.
Glad to hear you got a pool for the hot months. I’ve heard great thigs about solar heating–especially that its the cheapest way to go– although I have never seen it myself.
