There is something terribly wrong with the new batch file upload feature of Google Docs that was introduced this week.
For two, solid, days, I’ve been trying to upload all my local doc files to Google Docs so I might live safely — and solely — in “the could” but it isn’t working as you can see in the screenshot below.  Error after error after error was presented as Google Docs choked on the uploading of simple Word document files.  What a sour and bitter disappointment!

The bitter biting didn’t stop with the failed uploads.

Take a look at this screenshot of my “successfully” uploaded files!  They’re all in triplicate!  I didn’t do three uploads of all my files — of that, I am certain.

We love the Google — but now what, Google?

Is there a Google Docs tool that will ferret out and demolish uploaded duplicate and triplicate files?

What happened and why did my cloud computing experience go so sourly wrong?

I laughed when I read this, David. You’re so Mr. Big on the cloud thingys. I’m not so sure i’m ready to make change yet. Your experience proves me more right and you wrong dont you think.

Wow, what a failure on Google’s part. I would hope they would at least have some sort of explanation on their official blog as to what might be going on.

Ha! In this case, Anne, you are wholly right! It was a total disaster. I don’t even know which files made it to the upload and which ones didn’t. There are too many files to measure and count.

It took forever, Gordon, and Firefox crashed after every batch I uploaded and my entire computer slowed to a crawl. I had to restart Firefox after every attempt. Not worth the effort.
