Kanye West Throws a Fit at the Video Music Awards

When I was a child, I was told that it didn’t matter whether you won or lost because it was how you played the game that mattered the most. I can’t help but think that rap artist Kanye West, master of crybabyism, never took that lesson to heart. Over the past five years, Mr. West has taken it upon himself to find every opportunity to loudly complain when things have not gone his way — some of which have been well documented.

Do Mobile Phones Help or Hinder?

When I was growing up, people did not have mobile phones for the most part. It was something that occasionally was depicted in films — like the character of Sandy using his car phone in the film Stardust Memories. It never occurred to me that years later I would have a phone in my pocket that could not only make phone calls but also play games, let me write correspondance and so much more. Yet I wonder if in some ways, mobile phones aren’t also making things worse for us.

Futile Button Mashing in New York

When I was growing up in New Jersey, I would dream of one day driving a car and being able to go wherever I wanted. I knew that it would be years before I would actually be able to steer and control an actual car but there was a way in which I could exert some kind of power over not just one car but many cars at once — the crosswalk button at most intersections.
Pressing that button gave me a dramatic injection of power and, as I have now learned, a dose of unwitting, medicinal, gullibility.

I was looking at Google Trends the other day and something strange stood out to me: A rather unfamiliar name appeared three times in the top ten search result with two different spellings. I knew immediately that I had to do some kind of investigation to find out who this man was and why everyone was searching for information about him and the faux-celebrity known as Tila Tequila.

Mezonos Rolls at 7-Eleven

It’s a tough life for a person who has to work outside the home. I do pretty well for myself in the afternoon with the food I bring from home. For the past month or so I have changed my workout routine significantly enough that I get a lot hungrier in the morning than a cup of coffee can ever hope to cover. So the question is, what do I do in the morning when the appetite is there but the need to get to work in a timely manner competes?

Finding Memeing Auto-Tuning

The transmission of the news has evolved significantly in the last century. We have moved from a point in time in which newspapers were published twice a day and the term “breaking news” had some real significance to a point where print newspapers are struggling to survive and news is broken within milliseconds of it happening, not hours or days later. With an increasing number of copy editors getting fired and cable channels dedicated to news that ultimately is more filler than real news, where is a person to turn for real informative news that is interesting as well?
