Okay, I admit it. Two nights ago I awoke from an amazing dream flushed with sandy excitement and the salt of morning grogginess. I was coming back into being from a sordid sex dream with Judge Judy as the object of my unwitting desire.
Chaim Witz — aka Gene Simmons of KISS — made his television debut on The Mike Douglas Show in 1974. Gene was 25 years-old, thin and silly and sort of playing a vampire bat role. The audience had no idea how to react to Gene’s want to eat them. Was he real? Or was he playing them?
Jeff Beck is a great guitarist and musician. He found his first musical success in The Yardbirds when he replaced Eric Clapton. Beck then brought in Jimmy Page to play bass for the ‘Birds. Jeff Beck didn’t find as much commercial success as Clapton and Page — probably because he didn’t sing or tie himself to a lead singer in a band — yet he still survives and thrives in the music scene as a major force majeure. Jeff Beck’s latest album — “Emotion & Commotion” — was released this week.

I don’t know anything about Kate Gosselin except the very little bits of herself that she eagerly puts on television for public consumption, and after swallowing her bits without chewing for flavor, I cannot understand the essence of why she is on television and why she has a fan base. I’ve watched her repeatedly degrade her children and her former husband on television. I have watched her get pushed and dragged through dance routines on “Dancing with the Stars” as if she were a household cleaning appliance and not a dancer. Is that Kate Gosselin below or the Dyson Ball vacuum?
The recently announced cancellation of uber terror show, 24 — after eight, long, years — indicates the positive, rising, tide we are feeling once again in the USA. The Boogeyman is dead, the faux superhero is no longer necessary, and bad drama has finally been put to rest.
