Why Google Music was Dead to Me the Day it Debuted Yesterday

I’ve been a Google Music Beta user since the product first arrived six months or so ago.  Yesterday, Google Music lost its “Beta” tag and went live and that’s why this morning — after trying the new service for less than a day — I am un-pinning my Google Music Chrome browser tab and forgetting all about the service.  Google Music is now useless to me.  Google Music is dead to me.

The Pain of Removing Racism

It is difficult to change who you are once you have lived a certain way for years, even decades. For people who struggle to lose weight, for example, part of the problem is not that the workout routines or proper nutrition is difficult on a day to day basis — but actually changing the lifestyle to become that in which those routines are the norm and the nutrition is a healthy one is the challenge. This is just as difficult when, for example, a person is trying to break away from a bad way of living — a criminal lifestyle, gang membership, or similar affiliation.

No Logos on Australian Cigarettes

Imagine walking along a path in a serene jungle. You come across a sign that tells you that you should turn around because there is danger lurking ahead. Further along the path, there is another sign that tells you that you really need to turn back. A third sign questions your ability to read signs and has pictures of dead people and a skull and crossbones, along with an arrow pointing itself around to indicate that you should turn around. The last sign just has a large X on it. If you haven’t stopped by the second or third sign, how is the fourth sign going to make much of a difference?

The Cruelty of a Foreclosure Law Firm

For the past couple of months, protesters in Lower Manhattan have taken part of a campaign called Occupy Wall Street, fighting against many things including the disparity of wealth between the top 1% of the nation’s wealthy and everyone else. They are fighting against a system where people can get their homes taken away from them after years of perfect mortgage payments when their required payments suddenly double or triple without warning. If evicting people from their homes wasn’t enough, one New York foreclosure law firm added insult when they had everyone dress up like the homeless and mock them in a Halloween party last year —
