For the past couple of months, protesters in Lower Manhattan have taken part of a campaign called Occupy Wall Street, fighting against many things including the disparity of wealth between the top 1% of the nation’s wealthy and everyone else. They are fighting against a system where people can get their homes taken away from them after years of perfect mortgage payments when their required payments suddenly double or triple without warning. If evicting people from their homes wasn’t enough, one New York foreclosure law firm added insult when they had everyone dress up like the homeless and mock them in a Halloween party last year —
We live in a world in which Michele Bachmann has no issues with taking money in government subsidies for a family farm and can still say with a straight face that unemployment benefits are something that the United States government simply cannot afford to pay.

Recently, a person who shall remain nameless, was visiting her family in the Midwest. She was out driving with her mother and was subsequently pulled over by a police offer three blocks from her mother’s house. The alleged offender was given a $200.00USD traffic citation for not yielding to a school bus. Now, not yielding to a school bus is a serious violation, but the only problem is that neither she, nor her mother, ever saw a school bus! Was there ever a school bus? Or was this a virtual stickup with a badge and a ticket book?

As the holiday season enraptures New York City, the Idle Rich come out to buy and play — and I wonder what it is about Winter that especially brings out their public braggadocio and bling more than usual. Is it the cold weather that gives them the opportunity for the wraparound advertisement of exclusive leather and endangered fur — along with an outrageous hat? Do cooler temperatures lead to a greater layering of clothing that provides even more ample opportunity to adorn and separate while prancing?
As the economy continues to irrationally sour us against each other, I discovered that one of the not-so-silent casualties of this money war is FedEx. I have noticed over the last couple of months that deliveries are not arriving on time and the company is blaming “mechanical difficulties” more and more for their failures as the dawn of summer begins to linger into the dog days of August.
