My 27-inch Thunderbolt Display Died Today!

It’s never a good thing when something you love betrays you — and when my less-than-90-days-old 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt display died — I felt as if I’d be down this long road before only a few months ago when my 24-inch Apple Cinema Display burned out.  I dutifully made a Genius Bar reservation at the 14th Street Apple Store in New York City for early this morning and hopped into an SUV and sped into the Meatpacking district and paid my $80.00USD fare to get me there — all with dead Thunderbolt display in hand and tucked under my arm.

The Morning of the Day Steve Jobs Died, Apple Support Did the Right Thing

Steve Jobs died yesterday at 56, and while I am terribly saddened by his passing, I can’t get over the feeling of euphoria I had earlier in the day with AppleCare support before he died.  Perhaps Steve’s greatest legacy is the people he led and then left behind to help us find our way in his absence.

My 24" LED Apple Cinema Display is DEAD!

I thought Apple LED Cinema Displays were supposed to last forever.  Or, at least much longer than a measly 2.5 years.  Yes, I’m ticked.  My $1,000.00USD, 2.5-year-old, 24″ Apple Cinema display — previously lovingly reviewed here — went resistors up yesterday afternoon.  It’s dead, Jim.  Is this Cinema Display problem brewing to be the next Apple Time Capsule fiasco all over again?

The Delicious Apple LED Cinema Display 24 Review

For the past decade, I have relied exclusively on laptops for my writing and private life.  It wasn’t until I recently purchased my first unibody MacBook that I saw the need and felt the justification to splurge for the 24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display
As you can see in the image below, my office now has the delicious 24-inch Apple display in use as well as my MacBook’s display at the same time as both displays become the canvas for a single, virtual desktop as science and beauty become one!

The Silky SSD Unibody MacBook Review

I now have a new 2.4GHz SDD unibody MacBook with 4GB of DDR3 RAM in my hot hands and this thing screams it’s so on fire!  Now I sort of understand why Apple doesn’t think it needs a Netbook like the awful Sony Vaio P or the right fine ASUS 1000HE.  The MacBook is the supreme computer, netbook and secret lover any passion could want, and I can’t imagine why anyone would touch a MacBook Air when they can have the new MacBook instead.

My New Old MacBook Pro 17-inch LCD Review

I am a proud owner of one of the first MacBook Pro 17-inch machines that made their debut two years ago — yes, I have a dreaded “A Revision” box — but that machine still sits next to me today and it has served me well through the writing of five books and it has never given me a moment of discontent… except for a bulging battery… but I never lost use of the machine in the battery swap with Apple.

Today, I am the prouder owner of what will likely be the last revision of the current MacBook Pro line before all the new Apple machines begin to look and feel like the MacBook Air. I couldn’t be happier with my new “old style” MacBook Pro.

Is Steve Jobs Dying?

Is Apple’s Original Boy Genius, Steve Jobs, dying?  He looked purely awful and wan and bony during yesterday’s WWDC conference as he presented the new, and rather bland, iPhone 2.0.
