Drama of the Textual Aesthetic and the New York Times

If you haven’t visited the New York Times Opinion Pages online lately, you’re missing one of the truly dramatic textual aesthetic events in a generation.  As you can see in this screenshot below of a Frank Rich article published on Saturday — the fonts, and the complete look of the Opinion Page are crisp, precise and beautiful and look just like the printed page you buy on the street or pick up from your front doorstep — and that magnificent spectacle didn’t happen on accident.

Rise of the Obama Zombies

There is a delicate line between Art and Politics that must never be crushed:  Mocking politicos for aesthetic profit.  The New York Times, for some reason, decided to publish 50 crushing images of those working for the Obama Administration and, for some reason, the Obama campaign agreed to this public humiliation of their employees.  The published images cruelly, and purposefully, make these good people look like Zombies.  Let’s call them “The Obama Undead” — with their blank faces and ghoulish eyes — and we are left to feel terrible for them because they have been manipulated and mocked for paper profit.  We know their uncomfortable skins.  Only the glassy look in their eyes, and the familiar “thousand-yard stare,” gives away the fact that, at one time, they were human, and not the joke of the day.

Mad Madoff Money and the Jewish Cabal

Blame it on the Jews!  Shakespeare warned us about the Jewish moneylender Shylock in — The Merchant of Venice — who wanted a pound of flesh as security for a loan to his anti-semitic tormentors.  The Jews run Hollywood!  Hollywood is not Jewish enough!  The Jews own the banks!  The Jews own Bill Clinton!  New York Jews are ruined by success!  The Jews rule America!  In today’s New York Times — published in Hymietown Central — there is an article eviscerating Bernie Maddoff’s Ponzi scheme of ripping off what comes across in print like a cabal of “money-hungry Jews.”
