Rise of the Disenfranchised: Shooting Free Speech

Does carrying a gun indemnify free speech or condemn it?  Recently, in New Hampshire, a citizen appeared at an Obama Town Hall wearing a sidearm and wielding a Thomas Jefferson quote about “Watering the Tree of Liberty” — a favorite quote of Oklahoma City Bomber and homegrown domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh.  Is the man with a gun and a protest sign suggesting a living semiotic that supports President Obama or is he really there to actively chop down the first Black president?

Take Your Children Offline NOW

We need to have a blunt conversation. I realize this may not be a popular article if you have children and you celebrate them online by posting their photos for public viewing.

There has been a lot of talk about protecting children when they are interactively online but I suggest parents take an even larger step backward and realize even one-way interaction where your children are being viewed by people you do not know is just as dangerous to the welfare of your child as an unmonitored online chat session.

Neo-Conservatives are a Threat to World Peace, but Does Anyone Care?

In a speech to Congress on July 11 2003, Republican Representative Ron Paul asked the house these rhetorical questions. “How did we get here?” “Does anyone care?” Being so long avoided and overdue they doubtless caused much unease, much averting of eyes, and scrutiny of fingernails. At the conclusion of his speech, with sighs of relief, it was apparent all would soon be promptly forgotten.
