Yahoo! Search Marketing Foolishness

I recently tried out Yahoo! Search Marketing (formerly known as Overture) just to see what kind of traffic they could drive to my sites for a minimum buy of $30 dollars a month.
The early results were okay. I averaged 5,000 impressions a day to return my self-imposed budget limit of 3 click-throughs per day (spending around a dollar a day) for a .37 cent bid for the “writing” keyword that would take people to my http://davidboles.com website.

Curious MIT Weblog Survey

I you currently have a blog — or a “weblog” — you might be curious about this:

FastMail.fm is SuperFast

FastMail.fm is a SuperFast email system that has few rivals to match its full and fast features.
FastMail, with its 2gig IMAP mailbox on the paid Enhanced account is what Gmail should be and what Yahoo! and Hotmail wish to be: Fast, fat and full of messages!
FastMail offers free accounts and tiered paid accounts but I bought the “Enhanced” $40 a year plan and here’s why:

    2 GB storage space
    1 GB bandwidth per month
250 MB file space (your own web site)
IMAP/POP/Web access (IMAP includes clustered folders!)
    SSL IMAP
    SSL SMTP for sending email
    Mail forwarding
    Virus checker; Advanced spam filter
    5 Aliases
    Host your own domain

The Golden Age of the Web

Golden and Loving It
Believe it or not, we are now living in The Golden Age of the World-Wide Web. Enjoy it while you can, for it shall not last long. Especially if the computer industry has its way. They want every noodnik with a modem and a hard drive traipsing around the internet 24 hours a day so they can provide the means for the traipser’s well-being while on the Web. It’ll be a never-ending tourist season of noodniks for us seasoned Webbers as we slay and wheedle away those unwelcomed gawkers armed with cable modems and unlimited Web access for $5 a month.
