Alan Champion is Not Dead!

[UPDATE: April 22, 2011 — Alan Champion died this morning a bit after 10:00am. He died in Oklahoma with his sister by his side in the same bed in which his mother previously passed. Alan was 55. He died on Good Friday. We already miss him. Together, we will carry forward the glow of his talent into the bright future he blazed for us.]

Alan Champion is not dead!  A viral Facebook meme recently took off claiming Alan had finally succumbed to appendix cancer, but that rumor is false, and there’s video evidence to prove it!

Small Hands, Thick Neck

If you have small hands, don’t let that influence what sort of guitar you play.  There’s an old chestnut in music that if you have small hands, you can’t effectively play a guitar with a thick neck.  That is patently not true, and in my experience, those with small hands actually initially do better playing a guitar with a thick neck.

Interactive Actors Acting Acted

The New York Times likes to consider itself the “newspaper of record” — and so when they place their foot on the throat of a production to test their muscle — theatre people the world over cringe and hope they don’t get hit with the tainted shrapnel.  The NYTimes recently promoted an interactive “lesson in movie acting” with 14 celebrities “emoting” on their website.
