The National Education Association is righteously furious over Mitt Romney’s want for fewer teachers, cops and firefighters:

GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney’s disdainful comments on Friday about needing fewer teachers, police officers and firefighters showed how out of touch he is with middle class America. Appearing today on “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, a high-profile Romney campaign supporter and potential candidate for vice president, continued the attack on working families when he called for the elimination of unions for teachers, police officers and firefighters.

“Mitch Daniels is wrong. America isn’t better off when teachers can’t advocate for their students or first-responders can’t negotiate for better training and more safety equipment—which could mean the difference between life and death,” said NEA President Van Roekel, who also appeared on the morning news program. “These divisive and politically motivated tactics Gov. Daniels is pushing to help the Romney campaign are disrespectful and demeaning to the people who teach our children, protect our communities and run into burning buildings to save lives.”

Under Mitch Daniels, poverty rates in Indiana leapt 16.3%.  Three years into his first term, the Daniels administration had five cities with poverty rates over 20%.  Mitch Daniels is a poor example of an anti-Obamian.

This morning on MSNBC, John Sununu thinks Romney’s position is “wise:”

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign isn’t backing off the candidate’s claim that America needs fewer teachers, firefighters, and police officers. Instead, former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu (R), a top Romney campaign surrogate, backed Romney’s call this morning, telling MSNBC that changes in technology and population shifts have made layoffs of teachers and public safety officials necessary.

I always thought that the GOP were about following rules and enforcing laws.  Now it seems the Right are all about lawlessness and unemployment and cutting jobs in the state sector while the infrastructure of our cities burns and crumbles.

If people can’t read or write, then they can’t administer or respect proper authority and they are unable to recognize or realize morality and the subtleties of lawful behavior.  Without a proper education, we will need more Cops and Firefighters to overcome the uneducated and inane behavior of an illiterate and dangerous society.

The GOP have repeatedly admitted they want America to fail under Obama and they are doing everything in their power to push us all deeper into debt and and an unnecessary recession — caused by two wars they voted to support without funding — just to prove they were “right all along” about our first Black president.

The only way for us to beat back this GOP offensive against our better nature is to vote them all out of office and elect people who are thoughtful and caring and considerate and who cherish education and who honor police officers and who actually like firefighters.  Obama stands with the common man while the GOP live to punish us in favor of the wealthy.  If there are many more of us and not as many of them — why do we let their narrow minds and vicious agenda control our lives for one second?
