The Boles Blues iPhone 4S Review

On Friday, the long purgatory that was AT&T and the iPhone came to a bloody end for Janna and me as we ripped open our Verizon boxes to set up our new iPhone 4S devices of love!  I was actually so happy being back with Verizon that I took a hammer to Janna’s AT&T 3G iPhone and my AT&T 3GS iPhone and smashed the screens to smithereens!  Then I took those broken AT&T iPhones and dunked them in salt water and let them sit there for an hour before I took them outside and dropkicked each one into the trash bin!  Begone AT&T!  Your misery knows no bounds and you have no shame!  I can’t believe all the money we wasted paying you for lousy voice and data service!

The first thing you notice about the 4s, coming from the 3G series, is that the retina display is just as wonderful as you’ve read about since the rise of the 4.  You can actually read tiny text and, as you can see below, the screenshots are magnificent!

A friend of mine has owned a blood lab for the past couple of decades.  She enjoys her job of working with people and she’s good at it.  She lives in a small town on the East Coast and the other day she shared a “new thing” that’s starting to happen in her small lab that bears greater witness to the ever-changing world suffocating us.

A Memory of Martha

There are few safe harbors in a big city, but one of the most reliable places you can rest your feet every week and not feel afraid is the neighborhood laundromat.  Laundromats are busy and packed with people on a shared mission.  We don’t have laundry facilities in our building, so we are forced to outsource our laundry.  Because our schedules are so wacky, we use the Laundromat’s drop off service where we pay a little extra to have somebody else deal with cleaning our dirty clothes.

Crime Spikes in New York City

We are in the crest of a crime spree in New York City and I’m wondering why this is happening now.  Is the economy finally so poor and far-reaching that the forgotten and misbegotten are now finally rising up from the streets to take back what was lost in this economic downturn?

A 400 percent increase in murders in tony Williamsburg; a 400 percent increase in rapes in Sheepshead Bay and a 250 percent increase in killings in Washington Heights are all troublesome statistics that have Mayor Michael Bloomberg and police officials concerned.

“We worry every day about trying to make this city safer,” Mayor Bloomberg said Monday.

Children Who Sue their Parents for the Wrong Reasons

There are many examples of what I consider to be really bad parenting out there. I have seen parents pushing their babies in strollers with one hand while smoking with another. I have heard of parents who do not ever make food for their children and instead take their children to fast food restaurants for every single meal. That is actually beyond bad parenting — it’s borderline child abuse, considering the ill effects that fast food have on the human body. When I see a parent walking around with their child on a so-called safety harness that looks more like taking your pets out for a walk than keeping them safe, I fear for the children and the caged mentality in which they seem to be raising their children.
