On Hand-Importing 756 Articles Using Copy and Paste

It has been a wild week of mindless copying and pasting from the old Go Inside website — to the New And Improved Go Inside Magazine blog — but we are pleased to announce we have over 750 articles dating from 1996, and before, right here for you to search and read and enjoy once again!  Gordon Davidescu imported all 140 articles he wrote over the last decade or so and we now have 510 “Guest Author” articles that still ring with authenticity and authority.

Crossroads 2010 Movie Review

For the past five years, Eric Clapton has hosted a Crossroads Guitar Festival to raise money for his charity:  The Crossroads Center of Antigua.  This year’s festival — supposedly the last one ever — was held in Chicago on June 26th under a perilous sky and punishing heat.  The movie version of the festival is now available for purchase on iTunes for $20.00USD — or your can rent it for $4.00USD.  I plucked the purchase route, and I’ve been glorifying in Crossroads 2010 since late last night.

Albert King Licks or Andy Aledort Lacking?

Take a look at the cover of this “Albert King” signature licks DVD.  Just looking at the cover en passant, you would think you are going to watch Albert teaching you signature licks just as he did with Stevie Ray Vaughan in Session.  No so fast!  Read the small print in the left gutter on the DVD cover and you’ll see “Featuring Andy Aledort” spelled out and that little text phrase means there’s no Albert King on the DVD.  You get Andy pretending to be Albert and you feel cheated.

Ronnie Earl Blues Guitar with Soul DVD Review

In our final — for now! — Hot Licks DVD series Blues review, Ronnie Earl joins us to teach us how to play “Blues Guitar with Soul.”  One thing you gotta love about Ronnie’s teaching style is that he’s relaxed and calm.  There are audio problems with the DVD as his voice fades in and out.  At times, Ronnie seems a little confused and uncertain — a kinder editor could’ve saved him from those broadcast lapses in memory — and the included printed TABs are poor quality and hard to read.
