The Claim I Filed in 2006

This week I published The Claimed Body: How American Institutions Divided the Human Organism Among Themselves. Fifteen chapters, 559 pages in paperback, 349 in the web edition, a Kindle ebook, and a wraparound cover that took the shape of a parcel map of the body. The book is out on Amazon and through BolesBooks.com. Readers who have followed the constellation for any length of time will recognize the argument before they finish the first chapter. I have been writing toward this book since December of 2006, when I first used these pages to ask a question I did not yet have the vocabulary to answer.

Shut Up and Bite Me! The Hearing Aid You Can Chew

Sometimes, wacky technical ideas belong deposited straight in the dustbin and should never make it into actual production — or on a public web page.  Meet the “Bite Me” hearing aid — okay, it’s actually called “SoundBite” but “Bite Me” is a so much more fulfilling meme — considering the silliness of the product.  The Bite Me hearing aid sits on your teeth to better conduct sound.  I wonder if their slogan is: “Clench and Listen” or “Bear Down and Hear Harder” or “Shut Up and Bite Me!”

Smile Like a Celebrity: The Waterpik Ultra Flosser Review

When I was a youngster, I wore braces, and part of my daily tooth cleansing routine was using a rudimentary Waterpik that attached directly to our bathroom faucet.  The cleaning was delightful, but awfully messy.  Today, as aging teeth become crowned, the WaterPik Ultra Flosser has made its way into my life as the newest part of my daily dental care routine.
