We are a nation of masks — we repress our true feelings and protect our basic being. On the surface, we claim we are all equal and that skin color doesn’t matter and that technology is agnostic, non-atavistic, non-discriminatory and non-evangelistic. Today, we have been forced to know better by peeking out from behind our masks to divine the reality before us.
How is it possible for a song to terrify you? There is something unnerving, ethereal and uncanny about Cream’s masterpiece — White Room — that still chills me over 40 years after its creation.
Gray is not a color.
We believe in branding. Your logo, your namespace, and your textual perception is everything online, and it is the only thing that matters when you are a popular company propagating your brand. We were horrified to learn Pepsi recently changed their semiotic logo and bottle in favor of a strange, smiling, grinning, yawning set of variations on the Obama-like red-white-and-blue theme. There is nothing more frustrating as a consumer than being told what you are experiencing and describing is not happening or isn’t real. Many early iPhone 3G adopters have been reporting terrible White Apple of Death screens as the iPhone 3G completely locks up and becomes unresponsive and we feel brushed away by Apple as delusional wackos in need of censoring. We are upset and we are angry and we’re not going to take it anymore!
Running on CPT is a Racist phrase originally used against Black people to generically describe their lack of time management — but it can now also be effectively used on anyone who is perpetually late. “CPT” translates to “Colored People’s Time.”
A week ago iPhone iMania swept the Free World. Yesterday my iPhone arrived from Shenzhen, China and my iLove was born. I’ve been reading a lot of iPhone coverage over the last week waiting for my slice of the American Dream to arrive, and I am still astonished by the online complaining and crybabyism in the official Apple iPhone Discussion Group and how that environment is so disconnected from the reality of the device.
The other day I was engulfed in a fascinating conversation about the differences in sexuality and beauty between cultures when my young Nigerian female friend blurted out during our talk, “You know Black chicks want White dicks, right?”
