All good bloggers have lots of posts in draft mode waiting for revision, expansion and ultimately, we hope, publication. Here’s a secret screenshot of pending posts I have in my WordPress Drafts queue.
Would you please take a look the list and, based solely on the title, tell me which drafts interest you the most. Some of the titles have been obscured because they are intended to be surprises!
David W. Boles Urban Semiotic Drafts
Please list as many draft titles as you like in order of preference and if you can give me at least three that would be really great.
I can’t promise I’ll finish any of these in any particular order — sometimes instants of inspiration hit and I write the main post on the spot for days on end — but knowing what fires your interest will help me focus on trying to deliver the best possible posts for evergreen inspiration.
Sometimes the titles change at the last minute so a title you pick today may show up tomorrow with an all-new title. Some of these drafts will end up being Asides.
Thank you!

I’m really curious on your views on some things like children, parenting, marriage, etc. Keep up the good work.

  4. Yes, this ranking of drafts gives me great insight into the tastes of my readers and it also tells me what makes a good title to click through for reading. All those draft posts are generally, at the core, are about learning from each other and it is a great honor and a challenge to try to share these wonderings with you in the specific.

  7. Same here Carla. Sometimes I have at most like 5 drafts and at that point I’m like “gee I really should post some of these” 😆

  9. That is a curious list, Carla — love it! :smooch!!: Your list cascades in a really interesting way from title to title… I always never want to be without an idea… so even if it’s a rotten one, I’ll log into WordPress, type up a title and an outline and then save it for future inspiration and I’ll work on all of them on and off. Some of those ideas been simmering in queue a year or so but that doesn’t mean they’re stale or rotting — they are just getting juicer!
Robin — It’s good you have drafts! They are your pools of inspiration so make sure you never run dry!

  11. Now my choice aren’t exactly based solely on title like you wanted. It’s more to what I think the topic is about:
    Heroes Walk Away
Mr Grumpy Goes Blogging (because the title reminds me of those Enid Blyton titles)
    Using Proper English
    Building Invisible Buildings
    Flipping the Palgiarism Switch
    Public Face, Private Persona
    The Book is Dead
    Long Live the Book!
    Branding Education
The Role of Playwright in Society
    Dressing for Survival
    Active Dreaming
    Loyalty Oaths
    Older and Less Tolerant
    Please Burn an American Flag
    How to Start a Story
    How to End a Story
Who are You and Why are You Writing?
    Honoring Instinct not Impulse
525,600 Minutes (if this is what I think it’s about)
    Liquid Cocaine
Unranked. They all sound equally interesting.

  13. Well, I went through the list once, but with the titles running together, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. So I put them down as I saw them.
There’s no particular order, although I did know right off that I was most interested in the Top Tens and writing ideas.
Having some drafts saved up probably would have been a good idea since I start my 50,000 words for National Novel Writing Month! 😕

  14. A. W. — Right on! Ranking the drafts by what you think they will lead to is paramount. I like your choices! I hope to get through all of them. Right now I add more to the list than I take away in publication.
Carla — I’m with you! I might’ve should’ve copied and pasted the list but for some reason I liked the idea of actually screenshotting the list from inside WordPress. I know it’s a hassle to type ’em all up and I thank you. Now… when you’re writing your novel… keep your blog alive! Don’t let your blog writing die in favor of another project. I know that’s hard but you don’t turn off one flowing inspiration stream to feed another.

  16. Nah, she doesn’t possess me too often, but when she does, I’m not that pleasant to be around. She’s as scary as David’s Halloween picture from yesterday! 😀

  20. When you do a search from the main page, type in a search term in the window and then wait a few moments for the drop down sticky menu to show, A.W., it’s very neat.
Then, from the main page, click on Archives, and you’ll see a graphical hierarchy of all my posts. That’s pretty neat, too.
My avatar is confusing? Have you visited the INFO page on the main page?
Hmm… I wonder if it’s better to be accused of having a confusing avatar… OR HAVING NO AVATAR AT ALL?!!

  21. Coarsening the American Aesthetic

I can’t tell you why these titles interest me at all. 🙂
They all sound intriguing, promising and stimulating.

  22. The guy on the left is me. Those things on the right are rows of theatre chairs in a jumble. That is a photograph of me teaching at Rutgers in a room that was being demolished to make room for a new Education program. A student snapped that image and we like it because it is mysterious and green and it makes people wonder. 🙂

  23. Oh..when I first saw the picture I thought the guy wasn’t you and you were somewhere else in the picture. Then I saw the theatre chairs, which I thought were something else, but couldn’t tell exactly what they were. Since it was just Halloween, I did wonder whether they were coffins, given the eerie green of the whole picture.
Very true about the wondering part. 😀
