In a previous here post called Etiquette of Blogroll Reciprocity we discussed how and when you decide to put someone on your Blogroll.
In the comments that followed that post I reflected:

The Loquacious Curmudgeon was the first blog to link this blog and so I will forever be indebted to him for that even though we’ve never spoken or met or posted on each other’s sites — but here we are, and there we are — Blogrolled together throughout eternity!

I started to wonder if you remember the first blog to Blogroll you. Do you remember it like the rush of your first kiss? Did you previously know that person?
When did you start blogging?
What was the first blog you chose to put on your Blogroll and why did you add it to your Roll?
If you don’t write a blog, what is the first blog you visited that truly demonstrated Passion and Magnitude in every way? (Please remember there is only one right answer to that question and if you don’t know that answer, hit the Back button on your browser now!)
I’ll go first:
Started blogging: October 11, 2004
First to Blogroll this blog: The Loquacious Curmudgeon
First blog added to my Blogroll: The Loquacious Curmudgeon

Now it’s your turn!

Sorry, David, you weren’t my first! 😉
Matt is a former coworker of mine whom I got back in touch through e-mail with after some crap went down at my office. He used his site in his signature, and I (always eager to follow someone else’s lead) decided I wanted to try blogging for myself.

  2. I hate to say it but I really don’t remember…I probably should but then again I didn’t have the capabilities back then to just know when someone linked my blog either.
Of course the first blog that probably ever stood out was yours David…of course.

  3. Carla! — That’s a very nice site, Carla! Thanks for all the information. I thought you’d been around a lot longer! You’ve done a lot in a short period of time.
    Robin — Welp… I suppose that’s a good answer!

  4. Yes, Matt is much more design-oriented than I am, and he uses his blog as more of a gallery of his work. He likes to call it a “salon.” I obviously enough add a very personal touch to mine.
And yep, a blogger only since April am I. I suppose trying to post once a day makes it seem like I’ve done so longer, but I’m glad I seem more experienced! 😀

  5. I have two blogs. The first I started in May 2005. The second I started September 2005.
My first link ever to my first blog was from http://dailydancer.com. I exchanged links with his site because seeing the daily dancer do his funny dances was one of the most hilarious and original things I had seen while blogging. I don’t think there is any other site quite like his in the blogosphere.

  6. Carla — You’re so funny! 😉
Chris — Love that dancing blog! What a great time. I appreciate the link! Two blogs, eh? That’s a lot of work!

First to Blogroll my blog: LOL – Ah… now this needs explaining. I joined a blogroll called ‘Blogs for Firefox’ and I had ten or twenty sites linking to me at the same time
First blog added to my blogroll: Neil’s World.
Neil’s World was the first, and is still my most favourite (sorry, this isn’t geeky enough), blog I read.

  8. Excellent, Joe, thanks for sharing your Blogroll! I like it that you added a whole bunch at the same time.
Over 50% of the people who read this blog use Firefox. I really like Firefox. It is extremely fast.
Thanks also for all the help over at Bloglines! You are making me rich with all your stock gifts.
    THANK YOU!

  9. First started blogging: June 2004
First to link to me: Have no inkling iota of idea. Most of the people I link to do not link back. I think I might kinda stink *shrug*
First on my blogroll: Technically not a first, since when I did the official bloggrolling.com blogroll I already had some linked blogs. But The Blithering Moron has been a loyal reader and commenter the longest, and he got the first link back.
The first blog with Passion and Magnitude? Take a look at my blogroll! 😛

  11. First started blogging – 1999 (zoiks)
First link to me – geminica.com
First on my blogroll – well, we didn’t call it a blogroll back then, (heck, we didn’t even call them blogs!) but before geminica linked to me, I linked to bonkydog. His online journal was called Luz Kaminazuki and it has left footprints, but no longer exists on the internet as far as I can tell… Google lists 1,490 sites for Luz Kaminazuki. A pity the site doesn’t exist anymore.
I think Geminica has passion and magnitude. Also Nickykaa, a loyal linker. His is
    Hypnogogic Malcontent.

  13. 1999! What were you using for blog software back then, suzanne? Smoke signals? Thanks for sharing your linked and liked blogs and rolling them here. I like the celebration!

  15. No, David, it was something called Mosiac, back in 1994 — before HTTP 😉
Is it a blog when it’s BBnet message board posts on telnet? :p
Some of us are just… mesozoic arthropods of the internet. Hah!

  16. David: Thanks for the reciprocal link, and I’m glad I was the first to blogroll you.
I think the first person to link to me was Pryncess Kat, though that link has disappeared as it was to a specific post. It’s always nice to see a new link when I cruise Technorati. And nice as well to share the blogs I enjoy the most with others.

  17. Hello Loquacious!
It is a pleasure to finally meet you!
Thanks for popping in here and sharing your Blogroll experience. In WordPress there is a small box in the Administrative Dashboard that shows you new “Incoming Links” and I brightly remember seeing you linking to me way back when and feeling stunned and pleased and wondering how you even found this blog to link it!
    😀
Your blog is funny and well-written and it is real delight and honor to be linked to you!
