The Illusion of Free Speech
Americans have a solid faith in the expression of “Freedom of
Speech” — but only as long as they agree with what is being expressed.

standards, then the speech is repressed and made costly in the loss of

Demanding Due Process
The ugly internal machinations of a university system only pretends to protect the accused — let alone the not-guilty and innocent — and these policies policing behavior usually end up fettering away the accused so as not to do further damage to the university.
Arguing Against Arena Learning

Today, I challenge universities to honor that teaching code by requiring intimate learning opportunities in all circumstances they control. You create that kind of careful environment using small class sizes and not
giant auditoriums.

Censorship is the Last Domain of Tyrants
There is no greater threat to freedom than censorship that pretends to be randomized or accidental. The internet is a wonky, unstable, place filled with wires and tubes and fragile connections.
