14th Street Apple Store In-Store Personal Pickup Problems

Yesterday, I decided to test the new “In-Store Personal Pickup” option Apple is now offering customers when you order from the online Apple Store.  I had to take the iPad 2 plunge — times two! — and I placed a nine-item order online at 10:30am in the morning and planned to pick up everything from the 14th Street Apple Store in New York City when I finished teaching later that night.

The Tom Bihn Ristretto Bag Review for My 11-inch MacBook Air

I am a big bag lover.  I am constantly on the move to find the perfect bag for every moment.  It’s rare that you can find a single bag that can unite your days.  It’s more likely you’ll have to use a purpose-drive purse — I mean “Man Bag!” — to help sort and protect your day.

I always wanted to try a Tom Bihn bag made by hand in Seattle.  I have always liked the whole mission and purpose of the company —

At TOM BIHN, we design and manufacture sophisticated laptop bags and cases, laptop backpacks, messenger bags, briefcases, travel bags, checkpoint-friendly bags and accessories in our own Seattle factory. We offer eye-catching designs and unusually attentive customer service. We use the best quality materials, superior construction and Tom’s 30+ years of design experience to build a better laptop bag. Our bags are available for order through this Web site with worldwide shipping or at our Seattle retail store.

— and when my new MacBook Air 11-inch showed up needing some protection, I knew the time was right to sidle up and settle down $120.00USD to the West Coast for a Bihn bag especially made and designed for my tiny beauty.

I present to you the Tom Bihn Ristretto for the 11-inch MacBook Air:

The 27-Inch Apple Thunderbolt Display Review

If you do a lot of work on the web, having a large display can really help you get a lot of work done in a faster fashion.  More screen space means more multi-tasking.  More multi-tasking means you get more work done for the dollar hour than you can when restricted to a single workspace.

Even though my 24″ Apple Cinema Display died after two years — it has now been fixed by Apple under AppleCare warranty — I wasn’t completely shorn off the Apple tree.  In fact, I rather loved the new “Thunderbolt” technology that was invented to give faster communication between computers and devices.

When I decided to get a new 11-inch MacBook Air with Thunderbolt technology, I knew I had to also go for the 27-inch Thunderbolt Display to round out the new experience.

The Lesson in Steve Job's Death: Be Smarter than Steve Jobs in Life

The veneration of Steve Jobs is over and now the hack jobs and the jealous nellies are coming out from cover to scurry about and degrade the name of the man and his legacy.  Sure, Steve was prickly and sometimes unkind — but that was the price of his magic — and the man repeatedly put himself and his vision on the line and found massive success.

The Boles Blues iPhone 4S Review

On Friday, the long purgatory that was AT&T and the iPhone came to a bloody end for Janna and me as we ripped open our Verizon boxes to set up our new iPhone 4S devices of love!  I was actually so happy being back with Verizon that I took a hammer to Janna’s AT&T 3G iPhone and my AT&T 3GS iPhone and smashed the screens to smithereens!  Then I took those broken AT&T iPhones and dunked them in salt water and let them sit there for an hour before I took them outside and dropkicked each one into the trash bin!  Begone AT&T!  Your misery knows no bounds and you have no shame!  I can’t believe all the money we wasted paying you for lousy voice and data service!

The first thing you notice about the 4s, coming from the 3G series, is that the retina display is just as wonderful as you’ve read about since the rise of the 4.  You can actually read tiny text and, as you can see below, the screenshots are magnificent!

FedEx Fs-Up iPhone 4S Delivery!

Oh, yeah, I’m mad!  Steaming!  Burning!  Janna and I preordered two iPhone 4S last week ago from Verizon for delivery today, and everything was going great so far — that is — until a curious FedEx delivery exception appeared on BOTH iPhone tracking pages at 11:52am this morning when the phones were supposed to arrive by 3:00pm.

My 24" LED Apple Cinema Display is DEAD!

I thought Apple LED Cinema Displays were supposed to last forever.  Or, at least much longer than a measly 2.5 years.  Yes, I’m ticked.  My $1,000.00USD, 2.5-year-old, 24″ Apple Cinema display — previously lovingly reviewed here — went resistors up yesterday afternoon.  It’s dead, Jim.  Is this Cinema Display problem brewing to be the next Apple Time Capsule fiasco all over again?
