Announcing Panopticonic, Carceral Nation and Memeingful
The Boles Blogs Network is delighted to announce the creation of three new blogs for your reading pleasure that focus on news, commentary and analysis of three important themes that run throughout this Urban Semiotic blog. The first — Panopticonic — concerns us watching those watching us. Jeremy Bentham invented the idea of a “panopticon” in 1787:
A circular prison with cells arranged around a central well, from which
inmates can be observed at all times. Also in extended use.
Today, Panopticonic helps us fight back against the decay of personal privacy under the eyeing thumb of those that surveil us on a daily basis.

Why the Wet Why Resonates the Human Condition More than the Dry What
In my article — Blogging the Bodily Fluids Stream — I argued action streams like Twitter had no place on a blog because content, not diary mapping, should be the business and purpose of the human condition. I mentioned a few Six Apart employees — the makers of Movable Type — as examples of the decay of blogging for content. Anil Dash, one of those I mentioned, wrote a fine response on his blog to my article — Actions are the Body Language — where he argues what you do on the web is important and should rightly be published for public consumption.

Boles” part of the official title of all the network blogs to better serve our new, greater, mandate of inclusion.
Blogging the Bodily Fluids Stream
Today, I woke up.
- I wiped the sand from my eyes.
- Ten minutes later I did a little Shaker peeing and splashed some of that good yellow stuff on the toilet seat.
- Two minutes after that, I blew my nose and threw the tissue in the wastebasket near the toilet I fouled.
- 30 seconds later, I cried a little bit because of the loss of my pee stream aim because I am getting older.
- Three minutes later, I wiped the crying snot on my shirtsleeve.
