Normally, when I am enveloped in a retail experience, I can hardly say
that I am overwhelmed by the service. I am not all too fearful that
things might go badly, but I do not expect to be overwhelmed either. As
long as the people in sales are moderately awake when I arrive, and
occasionally try to answer questions with more than a grunt, I am
pleased.
I’m sure someone has told you a lie to protect your feelings or to set you up for deception. We all lie. Some lies are grander than others. A lie begs no excuse and provides no reason.
Historically, many businesses have started as family operations. Everyone was blood related. There was a clear chain of command and an unspoken plan for pressing down the power and handing over control of the company.
Today I will give you a perfect example of: “How to Kill a Joke.”

My friend, Gordon Davidescu, sent me this interesting link from O’Reilly publishing where you buy a book that is bound in a school-like binder and then you can either download updated chapters and cut them up and place them in the binder or you can order pre-cut pages from the publisher to add to your book binder.
Every new entrepreneur hopes to find great success in the marketplace; but there’s always an inherent risk in becoming successful:
Companies are always better when they’re lean and hungry and looking to grow and they’re never the same again once the genius monsters have been fed and paid off.
I can’t think of a current Genius Monster who has found financial success with a business, cashed out big time, and then come back to invent an idea or start a company that was ever as successful as the first payout.
Hunger demands starvation; inspiration requires desperation.
Once success is harvested from the marketplace, that yearning and that inherent want for recognition and confirmation of ideals can never be realized or spent again.
It is better, I wager, to make up your life with many small successes to keep the perpetuation of the pendulum of living alive and swinging — because only through a series of wins can the grander end prize of an immortal life be realized.

I suppose most travelers driving through North Loup, Nebraska would see only a small town, just one of many that dot the roadways of rural America. But for me, driving down Highway 11 and seeing the water tower come into view, the years drop away and the spell that is North Loup is cast once more.
In my mind’s eye, I see more than just a small town. I see people with hopes and dreams. I see homes and businesses that have withstood time. I see a proud past and a bright future. I see love and faith and integrity.
I see these things because, no matter where I am physically, North Loup was, and always will be, my home. No matter how often I return, every time I turn into my Dad’s driveway and see him standing at the kitchen door watching for me, I am filled with a joy and peace that comes from a heart filled with precious childhood memories.
