The Haitian Massacre of We Are the World

Am I the only one disturbed by the celebrity media over-saturation to help Haiti while New Orleans is still rotting in the mold and muck of hurricane Katrina? Did I miss the breaking news that New Orleans was put back to average after years of malicious neglect? Where is the ongoing emergency celebrity effort in Louisiana?

Guitar and the Stripped Soul

In 2005, The Mountain Goats released an emotionally rich album called “The Sunset Tree.” The entire album was full of references to John Darnielle’s painful childhood and the years of abuse from his late stepfather. Around the same time that this album was released, The Mountain Goats released a vinyl only alternate version called “Come, come to the Sunset Tree” that had stripped down songs that were just John with his acoustic guitar.

wanting in performance.

Blues for Jimi

If you have an ounce of talent for the guitar, you are wildly in awe of just how much Jimi Hendrix achieved in his brilliant, brief, Supernova life.
There have been so many remixes and rebundlings of Jimi’s music since his death, but few people are aware of Jimi Hendrix’s fantastic “Blues” album that is filled with the most incredible history of sound in our shared memory.
