January 26, 2009. I no longer like LinkedIn. I now Loathe LinkedIn. However, I am keeping the remainder the review below intact to preserve the breadcrumb record of experience and recognition as it happened.
I believe in the power of circles. I believe in mending broken circles. I believe in creating new arcs that lead to closing circles. When I was invited this week to become a member of LinkedIn, I was wary at first, because I do not like social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace because showboating and friends-gathering is more valued than finding information and tending intimate circles.
LinkedIn is unique. LinkedIn is clean and cogent. LinkedIn is about creating business contacts — and the whole idea behind the service is you only add people to your network that you already know. I love my Kindle book reader but I also, finally, took the plunge to discover the Amazon Online Reader. If you haven’t used this online service from Amazon yet, you should “upgrade your eligible books” to include the Online Reader version — especially if you’re doing hard research — because you can search the entire book and set a bookmark and you own the book for the rest of your life online:

I was recently charged for a second year’s subscription to the Premier Edition of Google Apps and that event brought me to a meandering consideration if the punch is still worth the purchase price.

I am a proud owner of one of the first MacBook Pro 17-inch machines that made their debut two years ago — yes, I have a dreaded “A Revision” box — but that machine still sits next to me today and it has served me well through the writing of five books and it has never given me a moment of discontent… except for a bulging battery… but I never lost use of the machine in the battery swap with Apple.
Today, I am the prouder owner of what will likely be the last revision of the current MacBook Pro line before all the new Apple machines begin to look and feel like the MacBook Air. I couldn’t be happier with my new “old style” MacBook Pro.
