The David Boles Blogs Single Malt Scotch Whisky Review!

I’ve never been much of a smoker or a drinker, but after a good friend gifted me with a $200 bottle of 18-year-old — The Macallan — scotch whisky, I began to rethink my posture in life when it came to becoming fine associates with some of the best single malt scotch whisky alive today. There’s a history and a culture in sharing a dram — you touch the ancient world with each swallow back in time and here’s my yeoman’s review of six single malt scotches — and please realize I have no established palate or trained knowing about anything whisky. Enjoy my amateur responses and then, ever-so-gently, correct me — and set me right in the comments stream below — if you so feel the need.

Grotesque George Steinbrenner is Bigger than Beautiful Babe Ruth!

Last night, at the new Yankee Stadium, the Steinbrenner family proved — once and for all and for all of eternity — why they are the most obnoxious family ownership in all of sport.  There was a public unveiling of the “George Steinbrenner bronze memorial” in monument park, and Steinbrenner’s plaque was bigger than Babe Ruth’s and Lou Gehrig’s and Joe DiMaggio’s and and Yogi Berra’s and Mickey Mantle’s plaques combined!

The Via Starbucks Review

As a confirmed caffeine addict, I do loves my coffees.  While I have enjoyed my elitist machine-ground coffee beans in the past, I am now a lifelong member of the Instant Coffee Brigade.  I was born on Taster’s Choice, bred by Medaglia D’Oro — and I’m now swimming in the newest “Via” instant taste treat from Starbucks.

Taste Bud Chemistry

Our tongues are being taken over by chemicals to invoke, for false profit, the taste and the memory of foods that no longer exist.  This fooling of the taste buds — this mocking of experience with lies — provides us a context that crumbles in ignition and a present that only mirrors the past instead of finding reflexively inspired knowing.
