After my “Lucky Lucky Number” debacle, I have been searching Chinese culture for further signs of my dismay, delight or demise and I discovered I was born in the Year of the Dragon:
People born in the Year of the Dragon are healthy, energetic, excitable, short-tempered, and stubborn.
They are also honest, sensitive, brave, and they inspire confidence and trust. Dragon people are the most eccentric of any in the eastern zodiac.
They neither borrow money nor make flowery speeches, but they tend to be softhearted which sometimes gives others an advantage over them.
They are compatible with Rats, Snakes, Monkeys, and Roosters. You are full of life and enthusiasm. You are popular and “fun-loving.” You will make a good artist, priest or politician.
Beware if you calculate your Chinese Zodiac sign yourself because our Western calendar does not exactly match up exactly with the lunar calendar and your birthday could be off by as much as two months if you aren’t careful. Here’s an excellent chart you can use for divining: http://funalliance.com/info/zodiac-by-date.htm
When I originally looked at Chinese Zodiac sites based on year alone I was a Snake. When I then checked the precise date of my birth against the precise changes between Eastern signs, I was really a Dragon by a few days. I learned I am a “Wood Dragon” as well:
Wood has a modifying influence and brings creativity to this sign. Questioning and liberal, Wood Dragons enjoy talking about original ideas and are open to other points of view. They are innovative, imaginative practical and appreciate art in each of its forms.
Generally less pretentious than other Dragons, Wood Dragons have an ability to get along with other people. They have the essentials to build a prosperous and happy life for themselves. Still, Wood Dragons are outspoken and at times a bit pushy to quell everyone, even in the most friendly quarrel.
I was also delighted to learn my color preference: Greenish-Blue And as an Aquarian/Dragon I am:
Impractical and atypical, these Dragons are intrigued by the shock of the new. Most importantly, they are intellectuals, very individualistic and original, born ahead of their time. Receptive and open-minded, they are held in high regard by all.
Now I wonder what a Greenish-Blue/Wood/Aquarian/Dragon with Four Fours means in the universal? Perhaps I am really the Four Claw Dragon of Death?
Chinese Zodiac has been around a long time and it is interesting to compare it to the astrological stuff as you have. I know five claw dragons were only for emperors right?
It is fascinating how astrology and zodiac signs are efforts to give form and meaning to our lives. Is it wise to live your life within the bounds of what describes you?
Yes, emperors were the only people allowed to display a five-claw Dragon and if you went against that you were put to death!
I don’t think we should live by description but these wiser things might help explain things we don’t get yet.
That makes a lot of sense, soos!
I just found out I’m a Rat. I’m not so sure how I feel about that.
A Rat is not a bad thing to be, soos!

In China a Rat is a good thing but I live in America and Rats are not liked so much.

Ah! Another Dragon!
And ’52 makes you a Water Dragon:
Water has a calming effect on the Dragon’s fearless temperament. Water allows the Dragon to re-direct its enthusiasm, and makes him more perceptive of others. These Dragons are better equipped to take a step back to re-evaluate a situation because they understand the art of patience and do not desire the spotlight like other Dragons. Therefore, they make smart decisions and are able to see eye-to-eye with other people. However, their actions can go wrong if they do not research or if they do not finish one project before starting another.
My husband is a water dragon. He’s awesome! One thing about dragons, you can always tell when they enter a room. Their presence is very energy charged!
I am a bunny. But I’m also an aries so that helps. 🙂

My wife is a rabbit, too! How freaky is that?!!
Well, by following your link to the rat page, I’ve found that I’m a Water Rat. It’s nice to know that it’s much more positive than it sounds. 😀

Ha! I think it’s time to change your Avatar!
No way, I’m not changing it to a rat! 😮
Oh, come on, Carla! Not just a Rat, but a Drowning Rat! Do it as part of the holiday season!
That’s not festive AT ALL!
Well, if you added a Santa hat to your dripping Rat head…
That’s like spraying perfume on dog poo…
There’s no harm in trying, Carla!
Nope, not gonna do it.
I’m also a Taurus, so I’m very stubborn! 😀

Carla!
Time is running out!
If you don’t get the hat on, we’ll never have time to see how to work your tail around the pants!
We are willing to consider you in a Ferret Santa hat, but that’s as higher up the chain we’re going!

How to work my tail around the pants!
Good lord… 🙄
How ’bout I just break the hour glass now so time is GONE!
It’s not happenin’!

You got some sort of zoo in your home to pose for these photos? 😉
Oh, and by the way… NO!
We get the feeling you are resisting all our attempts to give your Avatar a holiday influence, Carla
Really? Wonder where you’re getting that from?
We are sad, Carla, very sad.
We are no longer holiday festive.
Don’t worry, you and your multiple personalities will get over it eventually.
You have high hopes for us, Ms. Carla!
A Libran rooster here. 😉

Hi there.
I just discovered this page while looking up info on my Chinese astrological sign. I’ve known for quite a while that I am a dragon. I didn’t know until today about the elemental part of the equation. I found out that being born in the latter part of January 1965 made me a Wood Dragon.
I’ve also found out that both of my parents were Earth Dragons born in the Autumn of 1928.

Hi Ian!
Yes, the elements part of the sign adds tremendous depth to the inquiry. You were smart to look at the actual chart because those of us born in late January can get incorrectly categorized by year if we aren’t careful. Congrats on your fine discovery!
I just discovered I am a rooster and now I know why it is difficult for people to deal with me sometimes….. 😀

I always have crazy partners, I never get sick or break anything and I’ve never had a problem with money.
I’ve heard I’m blessed with health and a lot of cash, but sadly die alone with it.

I just found out that after all these years, I was born a earth dragon…weird…
and add to the fact that I’m an aquarius… what does that mean?
It means alot of aquarius dragon’s see this blog for some odd reason. I dunno about ya’ll but I have this “dragon sense” thing where I can see things around me without my eyes. kinda like having eyes in the back of your head.
~resonate~
In physics, resonance is the tendency of a system to oscillate with high amplitude when excited by energy at a certain frequency. This frequency is known as the system’s natural frequency of vibration, resonant frequency,
I’ve got three 777’s to your 4444’s,

Hello, How do I find out what my sign is, I am not sure how to figure out that chart 🙂
im a ’76 dragon too… sagitarius to boot. im engaged to an aquarius ’81 rooster i believe.
now we love eachother very, very much, with alot of passion and devotion, but we can just as easily get stuck on something and defend our points stubbornly… or something crazy… does the zodiac say anything revealing about the union of these two different signs, and how one may cope?
Tamara,
what year where you born and what is your birthdate? its based on either the solar or the lunar calander is my understanding
I am a fire sheep,or a “goat” as chinese astrologer Suzanne White would call me.I think I am in good company, some of my favorite celebrities are sheep…such as Nicole Kidman,Will Ferrell,Christopher Walken,Mick Jagger, and Jim Morrison just to name a few. Also Mark Twain;)One thing I notice though is that we sheep seem to all be very fragile and almost all of the ones that I have studied including myself seem to be subject to sleep problems and relationships where we can get taken advantage of easily.I think of how vulnerable someone like Anna Nicole Smith was (the girl made a lot of poor choices, but it seems as though she was surrounded by a lot of predators)….I have had to learn a lot and for some reason,no offense to any of our rat friends out there(my youngest son is a rat and I adore him )almost all of the worst life experiences I have had have involved rat women and one rat man.I think rat people have many fine qualities, but they hate me…I am not dramatizing here…..My first husbands mother was a rat and I did not know this until a few weeks ago and she seemed to dislike me from the minute we met.Her son would say “Isn’t she pretty” and she would set her jaw and say”beauty is as beauty does” and would go out of her way to talk about how wonderful all of his old girlfriends were,,,,this is just a small example of how it has been for me around rats. Her son fell to alcohol and drug abuse which led to our divorce and his abandoning our two sons and then he went to prison. He was abusive to me and before I mustered up the strength to leave the situation,I had him arrested for domestic abuse and she would bail him out of jail. She would also have little to do with the kids and when she did she would mock me because I would ask her not to hold them when she was smoking….years after our divorece she sought grandparent visitation rights and was given a year trial period during which she would not show up and then she would claim that she got confused about the dates and would try to sue us for gas when she would show up on the wrong date saying we should have called her …..this went on for a year and she lost her visitation rights. She did not have anything to do with the kids or seek visitation until my current husband of 12 years filed to adopt the boys, which he was granted. It seems as though her mission in life was to hurt me.She also mentioned more than once that it would be easier for a man to kill off a woman rather than divorce her because then he would not have to pay child support or alimony….She also mentioned that she wanted to run an adult foster care home for the money…All of the rat women I have ever known have husbands that they bully and in one case I know of had a habit of slapping and verbally abusing her mate.I know I am probably ticking some fine rat people off,but I do not mean to,I have just had some terrible experiences where they are concerned. My youngest son and his classmates(rats nearly one and all, there are a couple of boars) hate their teacher who interestingly enough is a goat…….and he says that he cannot for the life of him get their respect……..I find this perplexing ……..I wonder why there is such an incompatibility between rats and goats(or sheep)It seems almost spooky to me the way it has played out in my life and I cannot help but be curious …….
What a delight finding another Wood Dragon Aquarius! Btw my hubby is a Rabbit as well and seeing Santa Hats on your blog just topped the surprise (among other things my most favorite business I have had for 20 years personalizes Stanta Hats and Stockings)
Thanks for the fine note! Wood Dragon Aquarii are, indeed, a rare — yet delightful — breed! 😀
