The CSI Review

I was never a big CSI fan until six months ago when I stumbled onto a rerun. I enjoyed watching the show then and ever since that time I have been working overtime to get caught up on all three versions of the show. I realize the scientific process demonstrated on the show is silly so this review will concentrate on the acting and the storytelling.

Gillette Fusion Power Review

The Gillette Fusion Power razor is the best blade shaving system ever invented! There are two new Fusion razors from Gillette. Make sure you get the POWER version because it vibrates like the historic Gillette MP3 Power razor. The Gillette Fusion Power cuts you close without giving you a moment of razor burn.

ThinkPad T43p 2668 Q2U Review

I have been the ecstatic owner of five IBM ThinkPads over the course of my life — the famous and beloved 701 Butterfly, a T21, a T23, a T41p and now, the absolutely greatest and the latest — and now openly branded as Lenovo — the IBM ThinkPad T43p 2668-Q2U!

Lexar JumpDrive Lightning Review

I ordered my engraved Lexar 2gig JumpDrive Lightning 120X way back on May 7 and it arrived July 29.
Yesterday I received an email informing me my JumpDrive had shipped and to expect it soon. I didn’t have the heart to write back and tell them the product was delivered a couple of weeks ago.

Portable Headphones Review

Portable headphones are a good way to listen to good music on the go. I’ve been trying out several headphones over the last few months to find out which fit my giant head the best and which reproduced the best sound for my sensitive ears.
I “burned-in” each of these headphones for 100 hours before listening through them. I did that by plugging each into my stereo, turning up the volume to a comfortable listening level and then taking the headphones off my head and letting the music play on without me.

Desktop Search Review

I appreciate the advent of Desktop Search tools and I have used and been abused by most of them out there. Here is a brief review of my experience.

Treo 650 SmartPhone Review

The Treo 650 is a SmartPhone from Sprint PCS and palmOne. After 15 years of cellular service from Verizon, I moved to Sprint PCS just to get the Treo 650. I was surprised to find Sprint PCS is a much more robust and user-friendly cellular service provider than Verizon. The Sprint network, at least in New York City and northern New Jersey, is excellent and strong and I can finally use my cellphone in my basement.

LED Flashlights Review

LED technology is growing in popularity. You might even see clusters of LEDs as the red, yellow and green indicators in you local traffic lights. LEDs as light sources are better than regular incandescent bulbs because they last longer — up to 100,000 hours — LEDs are durable, and will never really need to be replaced.
Now you can own LED technology at an affordable price. This review will concern three LED flashlights manufactured by Streamlight. Price quotes are from Amazon

Sony PSP Value Pack

I finally was able to touch a Sony Playstation Portable and it is a wonderfully imagined machine and it feels good in your hand and it works wonders on your eye.
The PSP Value Pack comes with a memory card and five games:
Wipeout Pure
Ape Escape on the Loose
Twisted Metal
World Tour Soccer
NBA
I don’t play games like those so I quickly became familiar with the loser’s screen.

Even the Ape Escape game, obviously intended for young children, was impossible for me to control. I don’t have any Xbox or Playstation experience so I have no idea if the problems I was having controlling the action was because I had no experience or if it was because the machine controls were too tiny to use.
The screen on the PSP is rich and incredible. The sound is bassy and clear.

The entire machine sits well in your hands. I especially like the Wi-Fi capability for network updates or peer-to-peer gaming with friends and family.
I also really enjoyed the movie playing capability of the PSP. Spiderman 2 was included with Value Pack and it was fun to watch the movie on a gamer device. You can also turn on subtitles if you are Deaf or Hearing Impaired and the subtitles play in movies and in the games. That is a nice touch.
You can also play home videos and music on your PSP. The instruction manual is small and ineffective but the onscreen help is clear and concise.

Top Five Worst Z39.50 Connections

Z39.50 is a network protocol that many universities use to provide remote access to library computer databases so end users can view the details of a book for research purposes.
I have discovered many top-notch universities have really lousy Z39.50 connections.
